Kaylee and Zoe

We received this bouncy chair as a gift, but never could get Zoe to sit in it without crying. Her cousin Kaylee was here this week and placed her in it and she loved it. I guess Kaylee had the magic touch.

Thumb-Sucker

We decided to give Zoe a pacifier so that she wouldn't suck her thumb, but Zoe had other ideas. She has found her thumb on more than one occasion. One time she had found her thumb so I pulled it out and gave her a pacifier. She promptly spit out her pacifier and started trying to find her thumb. I got a kick out of it, but Jon wasn't too amused. He said that I wont be laughing when she is sucking her thumb at 10.

Zoe Takes a Bottle

We decided to see if Zoe would take a bottle. Little miss piggly took the bottle with no problem. Now Jon gets to bond with her at feeding times.

Bath Time!

Right now Zoe doesn't really like to get a bath. Probably because it is just a sponge bath and she gets cold. But we had to get pictures in her cute slippers and hooded towel. She also had some very special kisses for her daddy!

Zoe Meets Grandma Hood and Cousin Kaylee

Monday Jon's Mom and niece came for a visit. We had a great time with them this week.

Happy Birthday, Zoe!!

Today Zoe is one week old. We are so lucky to have this little girl in our lives.

Snug as a bug in her bed.

Zoe's last night with grandma. We will all miss her.

Our happy family!

First Visit to the Beach

Monday was Zoe's first time to go to the beach. She probably didn't even know that she was there, but we enjoyed taking her.

Zoe Comes Home

For those who are new to the wonderful world of "bubbleshare" just click on the play button twice to view the slide show.

BTW, Zoe did very well on her first night at home. She fussed for a couple minutes after we put her down. We then had to wake her up to feed her. After a feeding and a hour or so to burp (etc.) she went down and slept until morning. I had already left for church by the time she woke up.
Of course that doesn't mean that Jess and I slept really well. We were still up every little while to go and make sure she was alright. :-)

Ah . . . the naiveness and joy of being a new parent!

More Pics of Zoe

Zoe has been doing really well.

She had a pretty difficult time coming out so the doctor had to use a suction cup to pull her out while Jess pushed. The cup pulled off three times so Zoe has a very big suction ring on her head. This also caused a big scab in the middle of the ring. This also caused her to have a pretty big "cone head." The "cone head" has already gone down most of the way but the ring is still there. Needless to say she does not like it if you go anywhere near touching it.

The doctor also said she had a "potentially fatially" low platelet count. He said this is part of the blood that fights infection. When they first checked her blood her count was 62. Normal for a baby is between 150 and 400. The second time they took her blood her count was 250.

So all is good.

We'll continue to post more of her story in the next couple days.

Also, Jess' mom came in yesterday afternoon. We are really glad she's here to help us out the next week.
